1100 Meeting Started

Announcement: Vent class is cancelled due to family emergency.

Dr. Kolettis-Reviewed issues regarding several conflicts between medical staff, unprofessional behavior and the guided staff on handling such issues. Reviewed the ongoing problem of ongoing problem of damaged equipment that is not being reported. This is unsafe for the crew and the patient. If any critical medical equipment is dropped, it should be placed out of service for testing, no exceptions. The next occurrence we will result immediate termination.

TOPIC #1: Supplies reviewed with no changed, items are on back order and I am trying to prevent from over ordering since the slow season is coming soon.

TOPIC #2: Equipment reviewed, no suggestions.

TOPIC #3: Escort procedures, those of you that have not been on an escort, we will have a review in July once the busy season is over. A reminder that you must report to the Palm Harbor office to review the case and pick up your equipment.

TOPIC #4: Remember, when you are out in public with your flight suit on, you are a walking billboard. Your inappropriate behavior can be witnessed by others. Please remember that, if you are on an overnight and you are going to out or at the hotel lobby bar, please change out of your flight suit.

TOPIC #5: The sharps container and the dirty linen receptacles are outside on the aviation offices. DO NOT carry dirty linen in to these office or leave a sharps container on the Chief of Operations desk. Please dispose of these items PRIOR to entering these offices.

TOPIC #6: Website use, if you are having issues accessing the website, see me after the meeting for a password change.

TOPIC #7: Handouts, Improvement suggestions for next season handout, new availability policy, drug testing policy, background checks policy. Please sign and return these documents today.

TOPIC #8:  If you are due for a performance evaluation, please set a time to meet with me.

TOPIC #9:  Patient loading, at no time is the patient to be transferred into the aircraft by placing the patient on the ground. We have a lifting system and to prevent the possibility of injury to a pilot or medical staff member, we will transfer the patient by direct loading of our stretcher to the loading ramp or transferring the patient from the ambulance stretcher to the aircraft stretcher by moving the patient on the megamover. This is the ONLY service I worked at that the pilots assist with movement of the patient. If one of the pilots should sustain an injury while moving the patient and the flight is cancelled, this assistance would no longer be available. Also, the aircraft stretcher is UNSTABLE on the ambulance stretcher if the mattress remains on the ambulance cot. Take the time to talk with your coworkers when moving any patient so everyone understands what the plan is.

TOPIC #10: Medical protocols are in the process of being review as well as the Procedure and Policy Manual. We will reissue these along with placing a copy of each at the airport and with the medical equipment.

TOPIC #11: For those of you that are interested in applying for the trainer positions, send me an email.

TOPIC # 12: for those of you that have never used the Braun pumps, Melissa is having a review of the equipment after the meeting. Please be careful in the use of these pumps.

TOPIC #13: Please be sure to provide a copy of your license(s) and certifications. If your license or required certification expires, I will remove you from the roster.

1500 Meeting Adjourned.
