Can You Take a Pet on a MedEvac flight?
When someone is ill or injured and needs a medical flight over a long distance, one of the most frequent questions we get is whether pets can join on medical flights.
The answer is generally yes! Pets are family, too, and medical flights are generally on private jets that allow cats and dogs (up to 20 lbs.) to join but must remain in a pet carrier for the duration of the flight.
However, the pets will need to travel in a crate or container for both their safety, the patient’s safety, and the safety of the in-flight medical team.
When pets can join on a medical flight, it is not generally not an extra cost.
Pets that cannot join on a medical flight include birds, rabbits, exotic animals, and reptiles.
Can I take my pet on an international medical flight?
This is one area where there’s a bit more coordination required by both parties. Depending on each country’s requirements for animals and animal quarantine, the answer could be yes or no. The pets are welcome on the private jet, but they will need papers from both countries allowing for admission.
